Responsibilities

Optometric Technician job responsibilities include:
  • Complete diagnostic testing and necessary documentation
  • Prepare patients to be seen by the Optometrist
  • Assist the Optometrist as needed during examinations
  • Perform preliminary testing - such as Auto-Refraction, Lensometry, NCT tonometry, and retinal imaging (will train)
  • Interview patients, Document Ocular & Medical History, Record Visual Acuities and perform other entrance testing (will train)
  • Perform additional diagnostic testing when necessary such as Visual Fields & OCT (will train)
  • Monitor and facilitate patient flow in the clinic and work collaboratively with the rest of the team
  • Additional clinical & administrative duties such as answering phones, scheduling patients & verifying demographic information
  • Equipment cleaning between patients
  • Light office cleaning when necessary

Skills & Qualifications

Optometric Technician required skills & qualifications include:
  • Experience in a professional setting a must
  • The ability to connect well with patients
  • Works well with a team
  • Tech-savvy; typing capabilities
  • Optometric Technician experience preferred
  • Have a personable demeanor and a professional appearance.
  • Be able to work both independently and well with others
  • Be punctual and reliable
  • Be able to communicate professionally both written and spoken
  • Be computer proficient and have the ability to type quickly
